I've loved and supported the work of Habitat for Humanity for my entire adult life. So, earlier today, I was super happy to learn that this little trio, Story Shine I, II, III, sold in our local Habitat's art auction fundraiser, Home Is Where the Heart Is.
Each piece is 10 x 5 and stretched on board. I like how the free-motion machine stitching and wonky hand-stitching complement each other; each with their own voice but harmonizing so nicely.
I love working with salvaged and second-hand materials whenever possible and each of these were created with all salvaged materials including commercial samples of silk, linen and cotton, sourced from our beloved Scrap Exchange of Durham.

The nice folks at Smashing Boxes--who managed and co-sponsored the event along with The Carrack--were nice to enouigh to even share that Story Shine II & III each sold for $115; Story Shine I sold for $140. I was so pleased to donate 100% of the sales' proceeds to the Habitat Durham.
I feel very grateful to have been juried into this fundraiser and love that I could support a favorite non-profit with my artwork. Win-Win! --LGW
I am happy and grateful that You and Me and We joins 13 other juried artworks at Tipping Paint Gallery and its February exhibit, The Color Red.
I assembled You and Me and We with thoughts and feelings about
all those, critical, beautiful, parts of ourselves.
I was thinking, hoping that with our partners, our children, our neighbors, our coworkers, our friends, and our four-legged soulmates, we engage with a given, expected, understood background of love and warmth.
Here's to you and me and we and all of us! Happy February!
