years! It's funny, I know, that I still consider it hers, though at this point, it's lived with me longer than it lived with her (more about that Singer in a future post).
The change of direction was just what the doctor ordered. I'd been making lots of wooden hearts and was feeling sort of like I was on auto-pilot with their designs. I needed to play with some different materials and tools. In the next 24-hours, I sorted through my fabric scraps, oiled up the machine and talked with Chrissy about her favorite colors and what elements of her own card she was particularly drawn to. I set an end-of-week deadline to have samples ready to share with Chrrisy and she over-the-top crazy about the plum design but also ordered a few of each of the other colorways, too. Well, except the browns, Chrissy is not an earth-toned heart kind of woman!
Did I say this already? How fun is that?
And for a when-I-can-squeeze-it-in artist like me, that's what I'm after. It's just fun. I get to make stuff, which makes me deeply happy and content, and I get to share that stuff with folks like Chrissy who enjoy sharing it with others. That's a good life.
What's your just-for-fun thing? Between work and family and whatever other personal responsibilities you may have, what do you do for a joy fix?
