After a few small projects this past winter that used salvaged fabric and thread, I've spent the first months of spring experimenting with textile design ideas that work on a larger scale.
All are machine-pieced but finished with hand stitching. I love how the hand stitching warms the graphic lines of the pieces.
And what's with the Radar idea? It's my take on an all-time favorite quote from Thomas Fuller, "Seeing is believing but feeling is the truth." It's about how moms and dads, brothers and sisters, lovers and friends, neighbors and teammates, co-workers and the random folks that bother to hold the door open for you look out for and find one another. It's about all the ways we know one another, care for one another, sense one another in the quiet space between.
I'm five projects deep into the this Radar series, and delivered this first batch to North Carolina Crafts Gallery earlier this week.
